From a very early age I have been interested in finding and helping others find information and in 1982 I graduated from Leeds Polytechnic (now Leeds Beckett University) with an Honours Degree in Information Science.
As a qualified librarian, I went on to work in school, research and university libraries for over 15 years, hence knowing how to find information is second nature.
My interest in family history was inspired by just a brief family tree, found on a dated piece of paper in family documents about thirty years ago. I have gone on to trace many ancestors – paupers, gentry and everything in between.
This sparked my career as a Professional Genealogist and lead me to set up my own business, SMR Family Research in 2011.
I am continually striving to expand my family history knowledge to provide a better service to my clients. To this end I am currently studying with the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies for the Higher Certificate in Genealogy.
I am also an Associate of AGRA (Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives) working towards full membership and I endeavour to adhere to their code of conduct.
Unfortunately due to my current heavy workload I am unable to take on work for new clients until August
2019. If however, you would like to discuss your research plan and reserve a slot from this date then please contact me.
Sue managed to provide us with more information on our family when our search came to a standstill. Fantastic, insightful and suprising results. Thank you for all of your help. L.B.
